Altroz Latest Update
Tata Altroz Expected Launch: The Altroz premium hatchback is slated to launch by September 2019 and the final date should be announced soon. It made its debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show and is the production-spec version of the 2018 45X concept.
Expected Engines: The Geneva model had the Nexon’s 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine with a power rating of 102PS and 140Nm while mated to a 5-speed manual. Tata is also expected to offer the Altroz with a 1.2-liter naturally-aspirated engine and a 1.5-liter diesel engine (also from the Nexon). An AMT (automated manual transmission) is also expected to be on offer for both the Nexon sourced engines.
Expected Features: As a premium hatchback and as seen at the Geneva debut, the Altroz is likely to get features like an analog-digital instrument cluster, a 7-inch infotainment system, cruise control and auto climate control with rear AC vents too.
Expected Prices: The Tata Altroz will be positioned above the Model Tiago and is expected to be cost between Rs 5.5 lakh and 8.5 lakh.
Rivals: Once launched, the Altroz will compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno/Toyota Glanza, Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo.
Tata Motors is all set to launch the Altroz premium soon. And while we have already seen a Geneva Edition Altroz at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, we are yet to see the India-spec version. Now, a teaser has been launched which reveals the interior of the Altroz.
The India-spec Altroz comes along with layered dashboard like the Nexon. Where the lower half gets a grey treatment, the upper half is finished in black but gets a big silver-colored insert. As far as specs and features are concerned, the teaser reveals that the Altroz will get a Harrier like the semi-digital instrument cluster, push-button start, auto AC, ambient lighting and a leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel along with controls for the music system as well as cruise control.
The Altroz also gets a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system which looks like a 7-inch unit and should be equipped with features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The latest teaser also reveals that the front doors on the Altroz will open perpendicular to the car and that should help in easy ingress and egress.
Under the hood, the Altroz will get three engine options to choose from. A naturally aspirated petrol engine and set of turbocharged diesel and petrol engine. Expect the 1.2-liter petrol and diesel units on the Nexon to make their way to the Altroz along with the Tiago’s naturally-aspirated 1.2-liter engine. The Altroz is expected to be featured with both manuals as well AMT (automated manual transmission) gearbox options at launch.
